Doha: Qatari newspapers addressed several topics that dominated the local and Arab fronts in their Monday editorials. The strength of the Qatari economy was the most prominent topic, which continues to consolidate a steady growth and expansion path, at a time when geopolitical economic challenges are mounting, and the repercussions of regional and international crises are casting their shadows on the economies of the region and the world.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also reviewed Qatar's record in humanitarian work, as the country continued its efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced people in disaster areas or refugees in crisis areas, and as Qatar's hands extend to alleviate the pain of those in need around the world through its charitable arms. On the Arab front, newspapers highlighted the unified Arab and Islamic position rejecting the displacement of the people of Gaza, which was issued yesterday in response to statements made by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said that at a time when economic and geopolitical challenges are mounting, and the repercussions of regional and international crises are casting their shadow on the economies of the region and the world, the Qatari economy continues to consolidate its strength and steadily pursue a path of growth and expansion. It confirmed that the strength of the economy is not measured only by its ability to achieve growth under normal conditions, but also by its ability to withstand crises and turn challenges into new opportunities.
The newspaper referred to the global credit rating agency Fitch Ratings' confirmation of Qatar's Long-Term Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) at 'AA' with a stable outlook constitutes a new international testament to the strength of the Qatari economy, its trend towards a more diversified and robust financial portfolio, and its high capacity to absorb shocks and continue implementing development and expansion plans without pressure on its financial and monetary stability. The Qatari economy has overcome exceptional circumstances witnessed in the region, Al-Raya pointed out, relying on an integrated system of strengths, foremost among them the growing gas wealth, huge sovereign assets, financial and monetary stability, in addition to a highly flexible banking sector and an economy that is steadily moving towards further diversification.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Raya said while many economies are facing increasing pressure due to geopolitical and economic fluctuations, Qatar is moving confidently towards the future, possessing the elements of strength that make its economy more resilient, more prepared to seize opportunities, and more ambitious in building a new phase of growth and prosperity.
In turn, Al-Arab newspaper said that on the occasion of celebrating International Day of Charity, Qatar's record in humanitarian work was on the spotlight. The newspaper confirmed that the State of Qatar has maintained its leading position among the top five major donor countries in providing humanitarian aid contributions to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with a total of more than $1.528 billion, reflecting the importance that the country attaches to humanitarian response.
In this regard, Al-Arab newspaper referred to official statistics, whereby the State of Qatar, from 2013 to October 2025, provided $1.9 billion in support of the general budget and core contributions to the UN agencies, regional offices and initiatives. Based on the existing partnership between Qatar and the UN, Qatar provided multi-year support for the core resources of OCHA from 2017-2026 with a total amount of $88 million to enhance its ability to implement its mandate. Qatar also renewed its support for the Central Emergency Response Fund 2026, bringing the total support provided since its establishment to more than $22 million.
Al-Arab added that Qatar's joining the Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel, an initiative led by Australia, is part of a series of Qatari initiatives to support humanitarian work in various parts of the world. It also joined the global initiative launched by the International Committee of the Red Cross on promoting and respecting international humanitarian law. Concluding its editorial, Al-Arab said Qatar focuses its efforts on enhancing the resilience of communities, improving living standards, and supporting comprehensive and sustainable development for the most vulnerable groups, by combining long-term development initiatives with emergency responses, it embodies its unwavering commitment to humanitarian excellence.
