Doha: Qatari newspapers on Wednesday continued to shed light on HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani Asian tour, which comes within the framework of Qatar's keenness on bolstering its relations and strategic partnerships with the Asian countries. The Qatari dailies underlined that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to Asia as a significant and vital party in promoting international peace and the regional and global economy. In its editorial titled "Qatar and Nepal.. Historical Visit, New Era", Al-Sharq underlined that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's visit to Nepal - the first by an Arab and Gulf leader to this friendly country - reflected the distinct relations between the two countries, and the importance HH the Amir attaches to developing and enhancing the mutual cooperation, and pushing the bilateral relations to broader horizons. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1977, Qatar and Nepal have enjoyed distinct relations based on friendship, mutual trust, supp ort, cooperation, and coordination in international forums. HH the Amir's visit heralds a new beginning for the relations between the two friendly countries, especially in light of the agreements that will be signed covering vital areas, Al-Sharq stressed. The presence of a large Nepalese community in the State of Qatar enhances communication and deepens relations between the two countries, especially in light of the Qatari appreciation for the contributions of the Nepalese in several development areas in the country, and Nepal's gratitude for Qatars support during the 2015 earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic, Al-Sharq said. Under the headline "First Arab Leader to Visit Nepal", Al-Arab said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's visit to Nepal as the fist Arab leader to visit the country, and his meeting with HE President Ram Chandra Poudel, reflected the depth of the bilateral relations and a milestone in strengthening the joint cooperation. The discussions, agreements and memoranda of under standing between the two countries will contribute to developing relations and cooperation for the benefit of the two friendly peoples, especially since the Nepalese community in the State of Qatar has tangible contributions to several development areas in the country, Al-Arab added. Trade relations between Qatar and Nepal have been seeing continuous growth. Nepal's main exports to Qatar are ready-made clothes, textiles, magnetic cylinders, vegetables, and others. Meanwhile, Nepal imports from Qatar polyethylene, polypropylene, and some food products, the paper noted. Source: Qatar News Agency
