Qatar’s Persistent Efforts for Full Gaza Ceasefire Implementation

Doha: Qatar has announced its determination to ensure the full implementation of the agreed ceasefire plan in Gaza, despite challenges posed by Israeli resistance. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al Ansari emphasized Qatar's commitment to advancing the ceasefire efforts during a news conference on Tuesday.

According to TRTworld.com, Ansari stressed the necessity for both parties involved in the Gaza agreement to adhere to the agreed plan. He highlighted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a 15-point Gaza ceasefire plan, demanding that Hamas disarm first. This stance contrasts with the roadmap issued by US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace on July 31, which advocates for Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal to occur gradually and concurrently.

In addressing the broader regional crisis, Ansari noted Qatar's current focus on reducing tensions and facilitating the return of the US and Iran to their memorandum of understanding and negotiations. He underscored Qatar's aim to halt the escalation and encourage dialogue between the conflicting parties.

Ansari also mentioned that Qatar seeks an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz alongside achieving a ceasefire. Regarding an incident involving Iranian pilots, he disclosed that Qatar discovered the remains of one of the two pilots who entered Qatari airspace on March 19 and subsequently transferred them to Iran. Despite Qatar's invitation, Tehran has yet to respond by sending a technical team to participate in the search operations.
