According to Qatar News Agency, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said UNIFIL had detected massive kinetic operations throughout its area of operations over the weekend, including Israeli military airstrikes.
These operations, he added, included attacks using helicopters, indirect gunfire, and naval operations in Lebanese territorial waters, in a development that manifests the rising tension along the Blue Line.
Dujarric further noted that UNIFIL peacekeeping forces had detected and neutralized unexploded ordnance in the area. However, their freedom of movement had been curtailed.
He explained that the situation was marked by incidents of belligerent behavior that hamper UNIFIL's ability to execute its mission properly amid persistent breaches and abuses that imperil fragile stability in southern Lebanon.
