Visit Qatar and FUNandSUN Announce Launch of Direct Charter Flights from Russia

Dubai: Visit Qatar signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TT-Travel LLC (FUNandSUN), one of the leading tour operators on the Russian and CIS markets, during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai.

According to Qatar News Agency, the partnership will initiate a charter flight programme connecting several Russian airports directly to Hamad International Airport in Doha, beginning in October 2026. This initiative aims to enhance air connectivity and boost the number of leisure travelers from Russia to Qatar.

The agreement between Visit Qatar and FUNandSUN will focus on increasing direct flights from Moscow and Yekaterinburg to Doha, with an expected influx of over 22,000 Russian tourists during the 2026/2027 winter season. The collaboration will not only improve air connectivity but also promote comprehensive holiday packages that include flights, beachfront accommodations, cultural experiences, and excursions, offering Russian tourists greater ease and options for winter holidays in Qatar.

Furthermore, Visit Qatar and FUNandSUN plan to launch a joint co-marketing campaign across major Russian regions to boost awareness of Qatar as a premier travel destination. This campaign will feature B2B training webinars, incentives for retail travel agencies, trade roadshows, and co-branded digital advertising aimed at consumers. These efforts will be bolstered by FUNandSUN's extensive network of over 600 partner agencies across Russia.

This strategic partnership aligns with Visit Qatar's goal to diversify its international source markets, enhance direct air connectivity, and increase Qatar's presence in the premium leisure market in Russia and the CIS. By combining dedicated charter capacities with comprehensive marketing efforts, the collaboration seeks to enhance Qatar's visibility in the Russian market and sustain growth in visitor numbers during the upcoming winter season.
