Memmingen: Nine passengers, including a child and a woman, were injured when a Ryanair plane en route to Milan, Italy, was forced to make an emergency landing in the German state of Bavaria after experiencing severe turbulence caused by a thunderstorm.
According to Qatar News Agency, Bavarian police said in a statement that weather conditions forced the pilot to land in Memmingen, about 113 kilometers west of Munich. Police confirmed that nine people, aged between 2 and 59, were injured during the turbulence, although the plane landed safely.
The Ryanair aircraft was carrying 179 passengers and six crew members on a flight from Berlin to Milan when it encountered severe weather-related turbulence. As aviation authorities in southern Bavaria did not grant approval for the flight to continue, the airline is now arranging buses to transport passengers to their final destination.
Ryanair has not issued an immediate comment on the incident.
