In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that despite the heinous Israeli crime represented by the bombing of the headquarters of Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, which was a message from the occupation forces that they are continuing their crimes targeting the Palestinian people, seeking to uproot them from their land, the State of Qatar remains committed to providing aid to the Palestinian people. Qatar affirmed that offering assistance to Palestinian brothers is not tied to any events, but rather is a moral and Islamic obligation. Qatar will not be deterred by all attempts of the occupation or others from providing aid to the Palestinian people in the Strip who are facing the oppressive siege and continuous aggression.
The newspaper pointed out that this commitment was reiterated by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, during a media briefing yesterday. He said that the crime of the Israeli occupation's bombing of the headquarters of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza must not go unnoticed, and that the State of Qatar looks forward to the solidarity of the international community in condemning this crime and the symbolism it represents in the context of repeated Israeli crimes.
In parallel with diplomatic efforts to de-escalate and achieve a humanitarian ceasefire allowing the release of prisoners on both sides, Qatar continued its humanitarian role for the benefit of the brothers in the Gaza Strip, the paper said, noting that in this context, HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater headed the State of Qatar's delegation, which arrived Tuesday in Arish and Rafah cities of the Arab Republic of Egypt to deliver an additional aid package to the fraternal Palestinian people. HE stressed that the State of Qatar will strive with the brothers in Egypt and UNRWA to deliver aid to those who need it in Gaza despite the obstacles.
The paper also underscored that the State of Qatar will continue supporting fraternal Palestinian people to overcome the catastrophic humanitarian challenges they are exposed to as a result of the long siege and ongoing aggression.
Al-Raya concluded by saying that Qatar will continue its efforts to break the collective punishment imposed on Gaza, and will intensify efforts on all fronts to stop the aggression and deliver aid as quickly as possible to the people in Gaza.
In another matter, English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted in its editorial the State of Qatar's efforts to raise awareness about diabetes among citizens and residents of the country.
Under the headline "Creating better awareness", the paper said that the State of Qatar has made significant progress through implementing the diabetes awareness programme and self-management for newly diagnosed individuals, as the health authorities in the country have taken effective measures to control the problem and reduce the incidence of the disease.
Qatar's National Diabetes Committee at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has launched various health initiatives including the implementation of a pioneering national screening programme for diabetes and the National Diabetes Center at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has adopted the most advanced practices and devices in the world to support patients, the paper said.
The paper pointed out that the Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Cooperation (PHCC) marked World Diabetes Day 2023 under the theme "Know your Risk, Know your Response" to emphasise the importance of screening to discover and manage risk factors to prevent the development of diabetes.
In conclusion, The Peninsula said that following a strict treatment regimen along with a healthy diet and lifestyle are key pillars of diabetes management and this can be achieved through proper guidance as empowering individuals to make informed choices can prevent or better manage the disease.
